Fifth GWcycles campaign successfully completed

Gebrüder Weiss community cycles more than 1.6 million kilometers for ocean protection

Under the motto “Cycling for the Seas,” employees, customers, friends, and families around the world joined forces for the fifth edition of GWcycles, Gebrüder Weiss’s international cycling initiative. Together, they far exceeded the ambitious goal of one million kilometers, covering an impressive 1,644,702 kilometers. For the second consecutive year, Gebrüder Weiss partnered with CleanHub to support the collection and proper disposal of ten metric tons of plastic waste from heavily polluted rivers and coastal regions.

A joint effort for our oceans

Year after year, the GWcycles community continues to grow, reflecting a shared commitment to sustainable mobility and healthy lifestyles. In 2026, more than 1,000 cyclists from around the world joined forces to reach an impressive milestone: 1,644,702 kilometers. That equates to about 41 trips around the world.

Thanks to the dedication of the global GWcycles community, ten metric tons of plastic waste were collected from coastal regions and rivers and disposed of properly.

"What is particularly impressive is that motivation remained strong even after the original goal had been reached. Participants stayed fully engaged right through the final day. This shows just how firmly GWcycles has established itself as an international initiative."

Our project partner CleanHub

CleanHub was founded in 2020 and is a Berlin-based company providing a scalable solution to plastic pollution. The organization connects coastal communities to proper waste collection systems where none previously existed, creating safe and dignified jobs for local workers.

Businesses can support this mission by funding the collection of waste that would otherwise go uncollected. CleanHub’s AI-powered technology tracks the entire process — from collection to final disposal — ensuring full transparency. The company is certified by TÜV SÜD in accordance with ISO standards. You can find more information about Cleanhub here.
