The GWcycles community is once again riding for a good cause this year. In partnership with CleanHub, our goal is to remove 10,000 kilograms of plastic waste from coastal regions and help protect our oceans. For every kilometer ridden, 10 grams of plastic will be collected and properly disposed of — roughly the equivalent of half a PET bottle.

GWcycles 2026
"Cycling for the Seas" is our motto as we kick off the fifth season of Gebrüder Weiss’s international cycling challenge. Our mission is to ride together for better health and to make a positive impact, kilometer by kilometer.
For every kilometer you ride, our partner CleanHub will collect 10 grams of plastic from heavily polluted rivers and coastal areas. That means we’re aiming to ride a total of 1 million kilometers to reach our goal of removing 10,000 kilograms of plastic waste.

A joint effort for our oceans
Year after year, the GWcycles community continues to grow, demonstrating a shared commitment to sustainable mobility and health. In 2025, 786 cyclists from around the world joined forces to reach the impressive milestone of 1 million kilometers.
Kristian Buljan (krishatbockaufrad) from Germany led the individual rankings as a true Ocean Hero. His remarkable 19,022 kilometers are equivalent to nearly 10,000 standard PET bottles. Will his record be broken this year?
"When you cycle, you make a difference for yourself and the environment. That's what our GWcycles campaign is all about. The campaign demonstrates the power of collective effort. We are proud of our growing bike community, which is committed to protecting the environment across borders."

Our project partner CleanHub
CleanHub was founded in 2020 and is a Berlin-based company providing a scalable solution to plastic pollution. The organization connects coastal communities to proper waste collection systems where none previously existed, creating safe and dignified jobs for local workers.
Businesses can support this mission by funding the collection of waste that would otherwise go uncollected. CleanHub’s AI-powered technology tracks the entire process — from collection to final disposal — ensuring full transparency. The company is certified by TÜV SÜD in accordance with ISO standards. You can find more information about Cleanhub here.
